Tennis odds - Federer Tested by Roddick

9:56 pm Tennis

The season ending Masters Cup in Shanghai continues this week. This round robin event features the worlds best players fighting it out for the last individual crown of the season, and there certainly have been plenty of fights this week.

Nadal has already lost unexpectedly to James Blake, and World number 1 Roger Federer was tested very strongly in an excellent showing by Andy Roddick earlier today.

Roddick, who dropped to his 8th successive defeat at the hands of Federer, was fired up to win this clash today - however he fell at the final hurdle. In fact, many say Roddick had plenty of chance to finish the match off when he was 1 set up and leading 4-1 in the 2nd set tie-break, effectively just 3 points from the match.

As usual, Federer found something special when he needed it, and the rest is history. But does this raise questions as to weather he can go on to win this tournament?

Bookies have Federer at a very skinny $1.18 to raise the cup - you can pretty much write your own ticket on any other player (Nadal, Blake and Roddick at $13, Davydenko at $17, Nalbandian at $67 and Ljubicic at $81).

It’s hard to go past Federer at the worst of times, and this is no different. Perhaps Roddick could finish him off in the final or will Nadal prove to be a thorn in his side again this season. Stay tuned for what should be a very interesting end to the season.
