Super 14 Rugby - Early Victory for Queensland Reds

3:07 pm Cricket

The QR Queensland Reds made a great start to this year’s Super 14 season with a 22-16 defeat against the Otago Highlanders last week, and now this week they face the Hurricanes in Wellington. The Hurricanes were decimated last week by the Waratahs, which would not be great for their morale at all, where as the Reds won their first game of the season, which would have boosted their self-confidence in comparison to their last season’s standing, The Wooden Spoon.

The Reds had a start to the season that no-one would have expected, currently sitting 6th on the ladder with 4 points, they appear to be trying to bring back their lost fans. The Hurricanes ended last year in 8th position, so a win from this game will be crucial for the Reds to keep their confidence up.

Winger Clinton Schifcofske (1 try, 1 penalty and 2 conversions) and Number Eight John Roe (2 tries) fulfilled the entire team’s 22 points between just themselves, showing the incredible skill the Reds team have within them, which will no doubt be shown in their upcoming game this week.

“We’ll take the first win and go on from that,” Red’s captain John Roe stated after the victory, indicating the Reds do not have any intention of being The Wooden Spoon for the second season in a row. Sportingbet.com.au
