Centrebet.com.au – Aston Villa Vs Fulham
December 28, 2008 11:00 am General Sportwww.centrebet.com.au – The match held at Villa Park saw a draw between Aston Villa and Fulham as the disappointed host failed to win at home territory once again, leaving their supporters extremely disappointed.
It wasn’t exactly a difficult game, but rather, a game full of missing opportunities and bad passes. Apparently, Aston Villa had been in a good shape prior to their match with Fulham and it came as a surprise for many that they have failed to make it through to the next round. Although Villa’s striker, John Carew was absent from the game due to injuries, Ashley Young was meant to be the ‘secret weapon’ for that night instead. Sidwell and Barry were also not in their best form for scoring that night.
On the other hand, Fulham did a considerably good job in keeping Aston Villa in line. Although the ball was constantly not in their possession that night, their defense has kept Villa from scoring. It was seen when Villa had full control over the ball and looking extremely confident in achieving their first goal. Fulham noticed the bolt of energy and Fridel managed to stop Dempsey from scoring.
The missed opportunities that night saw Ashley Young taking a free kick, passing on to Sidwell who was unguarded, yet at the same time, Mark Schwarzer wasn’t near enough to take over. Sidwell also missed a golden opportunity in scoring a goal for that night just at the start of the second half of the game.
Overall, the draw that occurred is very much Villa’s carelessness, and even though the game ended up in a draw, Villa was the team that left extremely disappointed.
