The AFL Football Operations chief Adrian Anderson confirmed that the written notification requirement of every interchange during matches would be dropped from this weekend. This comes on the back of heavy criticism from most AFL clubs. This changes means that from this weekend on clubs will not have to receive approval from an interchange steward for each and every player change that is made. This requirement will be replaced with electronic interchange data collection throughout each match by Champion Data, which can then be used at a later stage should there be any queries.
