The most watched and anticipated Cricket Test Series is well and truly underway and all the best options for Ashes betting this year can be found at IASbet.com.au.

The first test saw and incredibly luck England manage to salvage a draw despite Australia heading into the final day as red hot favourites after one of the most commanding batting displays in recent history that saw four players notch up centuries to put Australia over two hundred runs ahead.

IASbet.com.au gave England almost no chance of batting out a draw after they sat at five for seventy on the last day but once again the tail managed to wag and Australia simply could not get the last wicket of either Panasar or Anderson to take the outright win.

Punters who took the option of a draw at IASbet.com would have been laughing all the way to the bank after they offered some of the juiciest odds of any of the major online sports betting companies.

IASbet.com.au is not alone in posting Australia as hot favourites in the head to head battle with the Aussies holding steady at two dollars seventy for the win while England have blown out to over four dollars fifty.

IASbet.com.au
also has some of the best odds on several fantastic options including which team will win the toss, head to head batting options (who will make the most runs out of two individuals), first dismissal, most runs scored by an individual, most wickets taken by an individual as well as win loss draw options.

Centrebet.com has got you covered, ball-by-ball, in the 2009 Ashes series. With England looking to repeat its success of 2005 on its home turf, the series will be hotly contested, as you would expect.

Punters will also be busy during the series at Centrebet.com. The first Test of the series begins on Wednesday night (Australian time). At Centrebet.com, Australia is listed as a $2.40 favourite to get a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, while England is at $3.90. A draw is heavily favoured at $2.60, not surprising given the fact that heavy rain in England is common.

Cricket fans can also bet on runs scored by each player in the first Test in the pre-determined categories of 0, 1 to 24, 25 to 49, and so on. Young gun Phil Hughes is at $5.50 to score 100 or more in his first innings in a Test in England.

In betting for the series, Australia is priced at $1.71, despite some concerns in the lead-up matches, while the home team is an outsider at $3.30. A draw is a $5.75 chance in the eyes of punters. If you are keen for a bet, Centrebet provides a market for the series score-line. If you think Australia will claim the series 5-0, as it did in 2007, the odds are $13. You can get $9 for a 2-1 England win (the same result as 2005).

Punters can also bet on the player to score the most runs or take the most wickets throughout the series, with Kevin Pietersen and Ricky Ponting the joint favourites ($6) in the batting stakes, while Mitchell Johnson ($4) is the clear favourite to claim the most wickets.

In a competition that draws together the biggest names in the cricketing world to compete in the most entertaining form of the game – the twenty20 version that sees the biggest hits, the highest pressure and the fastest pace going around.

To find out the latest odds on IPL check out IASbet.com.au.

The IPL was wide open leading into the last few with only the top four teams progressing through to the final series.

The Deccan Chargers, The Bangalore Royal Challengers finished fourth and third respectively while the Chennai Super Kings finished second with the Delhi Daredevis in first place.

Bet on the next match at IASBet.

However the ladder proved to be a poor indicator of how the finals series would play out as the Deccan Chargers (who snuck into the final four with a series of thrilling wins) held on the Bangalore Royal Challengers to become the 2009 Indian Premier League Champions.

The Charger posted a modest total of just 143/3 and gave the Royal Challengers every chance of reigning in the total for a historic victory.

However with the IPL trophy well and truly in sight, the faltered towards the end losing nine wickets for just 137 runs to hand the trophy to Adam Gilchrist’s Chargers.

The victory is the second time a retired Australian superstar has Captained his side to victory.

The Deccan Chargers sit just clear of the Punjab Kings XI with only three points separating first and fifth place.

The Chargers, lead by Adam Gilchrist, will look to extend their unbeaten run to five straight matches when they take on third placed Delhi Daredevils tonight.

A win for the Daredevils could see them leapfrog the Punjab Kings XI into second place and challenge the Chargers for outright first position.

Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals will continue their push for a top four spot when they front up against the Chennai Superkings, who despite having the third best for and against percentage, still remain in second last place.

The Royals are looking to regain the form that made them the 2008 IPL champions and showed plenty of that when they defeated the Daredevils on Tuesday. To bet on the upcoming games, make sure you visit CentreBet.

The Mumbai Indians will attempt to consolidate their position in the top four when they take on IPL easy beats and last placed Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Indians have shown plenty of promise with the bat and will no doubt make it very difficult for the Knight Riders.

To complete the round the Punjab Kings XI play the Bangalore Royal Challengers in Durban.

The Kings XI can grab a share of the lead and consolidate their bid for the play offs while Kevin Pietersen’s Challengers will need some disciplined batting and tightness in the field if they are any chance of securing two points.

Next matches are sure to be equally exciting so ensure you get your bet on NRL and cricket betting online at CentreBet.com.au in time!

Currently, the IAS Bet agency offers head-to-head betting for the IPL, as well as odds on the tournament winner and the highest partnership in any particular match. At present, the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils are deadlocked at $3.25 favourites to win the tournament. Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals – the defending champions – represent good value at $7.

In addition, you can bet on the current England-West Indies Test series, including head-to-head bowling and batting combinations. For example, you can get $1.85 for Andrew Strauss scoring more runs than Alistair Cook in the second Test. You can even bet on who will win the toss in any Test during the series between the pair.

Betting on the Ashes series and the 2011 World Cup are available at IAS Bet. Australia is a $1.72 favourite for the upcoming series, with England at $3.15. However, these odds may change depending on how the Poms fare against the West Indies in their current contest.

Betting options on future competitions are limited at present but, obviously, the odds are better than you may receive later on. For example, South Africa is quoted at $5.50 to win the 2011 World Cup – long odds for such a powerful cricketing nation.

Who would have thought that Adam Gilchrist would play a starring role for the Chargers against his old opening partner Matthew Heyden who is playing a loan hand for the Superkings and remains the IPL’s highest scoring batsman to date on IASbet.com?

The Kings XI Punjab side have moved to outright second with three wins from five starts after they accounted for the Mumbai Indians in a three run thriller that went right down to the wire. This excitement was almost parallel to that felt when a bet on NRL was placed before the big game.

Mumbai sit in fourth place despite having won just two of their five matches but with matches in hand to complete the fifth round will be very lucky to hang onto a top four spot.

Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals sit just outside the top four in fifth place on percentages after a much needed five wicket win over the Delhi Daredevils.

Looking down and out and in danger of missing the play offs, last year’s champions fought back with a solid innings from Graeme Smith and slashing innings from YK Pathan to take the points.

The Bangalore Royal Challengers lead by Kevin Pietersen sit in sixth position in the rankings just ahead of the Chennai Superkings following a solid five wicket victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders who are equal last.

The Knight Riders are just one win from six starts and no chance of making the play offs after back to back embarrassing losses to Bangalore and Mumbai.

Sportingbet.com.au – Bryce McGain

Cricket No Comments

www.sportingbet.com.au – Bryce McGain has suffered the dubious honour of having the worst figures in test Cricket history following his debut against South Africa in the third test.
McGain, who is no stranger to records, also became the oldest test cricketer (at the ripe old age of thirty six) to make his debut for Australia.

{sporting bet aus:Link:CLICK HERE TO BET ON CRICKET }

He was carted all around the paddock by a feisty South African batting lineup to have over one hundred runs scored off his first eleven overs.
To rub salt in the wound, McGain failed to make a breakthrough and was replaced by Captain Ricky Ponting after just eleven overs.
The Proteas moved to an unassailable first innings total of six hundred and fifty one and MCGain would not get another chance to bowl for his country after Australia suffered it’s first single innings defeat in eleven years.

South African spinner Paul Harris showed that local knowledge can be at times invaluable as he snared three very valuable wickets on the first day of play proving that there was plenty of opportunities for a quality spinner to showcase his wares.
Despite a horror start, selectors (including Merv Hughes who overlooked paceman Andrew McDonald) declared that they would not have changed their selection in any case.

They had also stated that they would have much preferred an extra batsmen but did not feel that anyone currently in the domestic competition has what it takes to don the baggy green.
In their minds, Marcus North was the only batsman that they would have considered but he had been hospitalised given McGain his opportunity, which he failed to take. sportingbet.com.au

www.iasbet.com.au – The Australian cricket team has landed in South Africa ahead of their three match test against the Proteas and Ricky Ponting has been quick to signal his intent and the intent of his Australian bowling attack.

Coming off the back of a loss to the South Africans in both forms of the games and a drawn series against New Zealand, Ponting was quick to praise his young and relatively inexperienced bowling attack.

{iasbet:Link:BET NOW }

Despite the fact that fast bowlers Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle, Doug Bollinger and Ben Hilfenhaus have played just 23 tests between them, Ponting is confident his charges can take the twenty wickets required to dismiss the Proteas in any conditions anywhere in the world.

The inability for the Australian bowling attack to dismiss the South Africans in the recent series has very much been a talking point in the Australian and in fact international media.

It is no secret that the South African wickets have a tendency to favour swing and seam bowlers which are ideal conditions for the Australian attack.

Mitchell Johnson was a shining light for the Australian over the test series but seemed to struggle in the one day form of the game. Leaving selectors and the press adamant that the more he bowls, the better he gets.

Siddle had mixed fortunes in the test series and was left out of the one day squad in favour of Hilfenhaus who had a reasonable outing with the ball.

Bollinger domestic test has been exceptional but it is yet to be seen if his form will translate onto the international scene.Iasbet.com.au

www.sportingbet.com.au – New Zealand’s Daniel Flynn can claim the dubious honour of being the first person given out following an appeal to the third umpire.

The rule, which was introduced in July when Sri Lanka hosted India, has lain dormant until the Black Caps match against the West Indies.

{sporting bet aus:Link:BET NOW }

Flynn was on ninety five runs, agonizingly close to his maiden test century when he was given not out following an LBW appeal.

Captain Chris Gayle promptly signaled to the third umpire. Rudy Koertzen, who, following a review of the ball in question gave Flynn his marching orders.

The new rule is not all a one way street though.

A batsman has the right to appeal a dubious decision in the event that he is given out.

There are limits to the new rule however with either side only allowed three incorrect appeal over the course of an innings before they lose the right to appeal.

Gayle was sympathetic toward Flynn for missing out on what would have been a fairytale innings after Captain Daniel Vettori’s show of faith in elevating him up the order to number three.

Flynn was disappointed but not overly phased at the decision claiming that there is no arguing with today’s technology.

Many sports have introduced the controversial third umpire but cricket is just a little bit trickier.

It is essentially exposing umpires to harsh criticism over a decision and taking power out of their hands.

If an appeal is upheld it is as good as openly saying that an umpire is wrong and hence detrimental to his credibility.

Centrebet.com.au – Australian Cricket

Cricket No Comments

www.centrebet.com.au - Australian Cricket Coach Tin Nielsen has waded into the war of words ahead of the three match test series to commence on December seventeenth.

{centrebet:Link:BET NOW }

Nielsen practically scoffed at the South Africans attempts to fire up the Australian side, highlighting South Africa’s complete absence of victory (or form for that matter) on Australia soil since the side post apartheid inception back into world cricket in 1991.

Nielsen labeled any attempt by the Proteas to enter into pre-match sledging ahead of the first test in Perth as ‘cheap talk’, insisting that the South Africans need to let their cricket do the talking for once instead of their mouths.

Since 1991, the South Africans have lost four series on Australian soil and have tried every trick in the book to gain ascendancy over the unflappable home side.

Despite a recent lack of form in India, the Australian maintain their world number one rank while the South Africans have been elevated to number two, fanning the flames of competitiveness between the two teams.

But as every team knows, Australia is a completely different team on home soil, a fact the Black Caps found the hard way, losing both tests within four days and offering very little resistance.

Instead of returning fire, Nielsen offered some hasty advice to the South African team.

He noted the good average (in particular batting averages) of the Proteas this year and urged them to focus playing the cricket that has seen them reach world number two, instead of relying on cheap tactics and quick fixes.

Australia play as an exciting, honest brand of cricket that could do without the controversy of last year’s series in which India attempted to drag their series through the mud duringB and after a five-nil whitewash.

IASbet.com.au – First Test

Cricket No Comments

www.iasbet.com.au – South African fast bowler and alleged fastest bowler in the world has taken aim at Australian test opener Matthew Heyden ahead of this week’s first test at the WACA.

{iasbet sports:Link:BET NOW }

The WACA is well know for being a bouncer friendly wicket and Steyn has vowed to ‘bring Heyden down’ in what should be an incredibly fiery opening spell for the Proteas strike bowler.

Heyden need only to look back two years to his long time opening partner Justin Langer’s 100 test in which he received a viscous bouncer from Mkaya Ntini that struck him on the helmet and resulted in him spending the night in hospital.

Then there was the now legendary David Hookes incident that left him with a shattered jaw and compelled Cricket Australia to implement a rule making the wearing of helmets against fast bowlers compulsory.

The Heyden v Steyn match up is just one of many key match ups to watch.

Smith will no doubt cop his fair share of treatment from Brett Lee as will Jacques Kallis who generally takes an eternity to get going – a tactic that often frustrates bowlers.

There is nothing more entertaining to watch than bowlers making their way to the crease to face their fellow quicks.

There will no doubt be plenty of sting in both attacks and expect plenty of ducking and weaving from the tail enders as their counterparts pepper the upper body.

Centrebet.com.au – Andrew Symonds

Cricket No Comments

www.centrebet.com.au – Andrew Symonds has not only made the cricket news this week, he has almost single handedly been the news in the wake of his recent inclusion in Australia’s test squad ahead of all-rounder Shane Watson and off-spinner Jason Kresja.

{centrebet:Link:BET NOW }

Just days after Symonds appeared on Channel 9 pleading for understanding about a stress related problem and informing the public that he did in fact have a drinking problem, Symonds has again landed himself in hot water during drinking session at the Normanby Hotel in Brisbane.

It is alleged that Symonds was approached by a drunken fan who attempted to hug Symonds and have his photo taken with the star cricketer.

When Symonds was not accommodating (as his reputation will dictate) the fan became irate and a minor scuffle ensued while the bouncers attempted to eject the unruly patron (who is more than likely no longer a fan of Andrew Symonds).

Normanby Hotel is a popular watering hole for quite a few sports stars and manager Mark Lassman was quick to jump to Symonds defense.

He stated that it was not uncommon for star struck (albeit intoxicated) fans to accost their idols in what they believe to be a friendly manner, but may be perceived differently by the object of their affection.

He also said that Symonds had done nothing wrong, had consumed ‘a few light beers’ and dealt with the situation as well as anybody in the same situation would have.

Regardless of his innocence, Cricket Australia stated that in no uncertain terms were they fed up with Symonds nose for trouble and would not hesitate to tear up his million dollar contract if they found he was the subject of any wrongdoing on the night.

Their investigations continue.

Season Series
Breakers 2-0

Current Standings
Blaze (2-13) 10th, Breakers (12-3) second

The Gold Coast Blaze are well and truly out of finals contention and have nothing but pride to play for while the Breakers are a genuine contender for this year’s championship.

The Breakers consolidated their place in the top two with a come-from-behind win against Perth on Thursday.

The win was made even more impressive by the fact that league-leading scorer Kirk Penney failed to have a meaningful impact on the contest.

Guards Phill Jones and CJ Bruton stepped up, scoring 22 points apiece while Oscar Forman chimed in with 19 valuable points to help lift the Breakers to a 108-94 victory.

The Blaze match up pretty well against the Breakers with Ben Melmeth, Pero Cameron, Casey Frank and import Justin Bowen more than capable of holding their own against the Breakers’ big men while
Shane Heal and James Harvey are dangerous from beyond the arc.

Doubts remain over whether Harvey (hamstring) will take his place in the side and if he fails to suit up it will be a huge blow for the Blaze who will struggle to match the Breakers who are not only the highest scoring team in the league but also the most efficient side in the NBL from three-point land.

Brendan Joyce’s men should be fresh and ready for this match given that they haven’t played since November 16 and while they are capable of causing an upset the Breakers simply have too much depth and should prevail.

The last three clashes between these two sides have been high-scoring affairs, so my money is on a total match points of between 211-220 points, offering $4.00.

Super 14 Rugby – Early Victory for Queensland Reds

Cricket No Comments

The QR Queensland Reds made a great start to this year’s Super 14 season with a 22-16 defeat against the Otago Highlanders last week, and now this week they face the Hurricanes in Wellington. The Hurricanes were decimated last week by the Waratahs, which would not be great for their morale at all, where as the Reds won their first game of the season, which would have boosted their self-confidence in comparison to their last season’s standing, The Wooden Spoon.

The Reds had a start to the season that no-one would have expected, currently sitting 6th on the ladder with 4 points, they appear to be trying to bring back their lost fans. The Hurricanes ended last year in 8th position, so a win from this game will be crucial for the Reds to keep their confidence up.

Winger Clinton Schifcofske (1 try, 1 penalty and 2 conversions) and Number Eight John Roe (2 tries) fulfilled the entire team’s 22 points between just themselves, showing the incredible skill the Reds team have within them, which will no doubt be shown in their upcoming game this week.

“We’ll take the first win and go on from that,” Red’s captain John Roe stated after the victory, indicating the Reds do not have any intention of being The Wooden Spoon for the second season in a row. Sportingbet.com.au

World Cup Cricket Semi Finals Approaching – Our Crazy Predictions!

Cricket, World Cup Cricket No Comments

Is it about time? In the never ending tournament, the Semi Finals stage is finally approaching! I don’t know what it is, but there hasn’t been too much enjoyment garnered from this CricketWorldCup – not by me anyway. A lack of close matches when the teams should have been fighting, poor crowds, elimination of what should have been top teams and a few other factors have really killed the Cricket World Cup for me this year. Perhaps I expect too much.

That being said, we’re all expecting the next week to provide the highlights of the tournament. What can we expect? Well… here are our outlandish predictions for the next week at the www.WorldCupCricket.com tournament (feel free to berate me when these don’t get up!):

  1. Probably the best match of the tournament will be played on Saturday between West Indies and England. Even though these two teams have been eliminated, both will finally have a lot to play for after the announced retirement of Brian Lara. England have sustained some heavy ego blows in the past week, so they have to lift (surely!). Bet on this game now!
  2. Friday sees Australia take on New Zealand in a match that won’t have too much bearing on the semi final make up (if the kiwis thrash Australia, they can move into top spot on the table). Expect New Zealand to put up a good fight but fall just short of beating the Aussies. Bet on Australia at 1.40 or bet on New Zealand at 2.95.
  3. Tuesday will see New Zealand take on Sri Lanka (New Zealand vs Sri Lanka). The bookies will have trouble separating these two teams, but have Sri Lanka as slight favourites. Expect around a 3 wicket victory (or 45 runs) to New Zeland (yes, I’m putting my balls on the line!)
  4. The second semi final will see Australia go up against South Africa (Australia vs South Africa). Australia will win this match comfortably at around 1.50 (that’s an early guess of their odds).
  5. On Saturday April 28, Australia will take on New Zealand for the Cricket World Cup title. Although Australia will be warm favourites, they will get beaten at the death by an in form kiwi side. Ponting will be devastated!

So that’s it! Our crazy predictions for the next week at the World Cup Cricket.

Can Anyone Beat Australia at WorldCupCricket 2007?

Cricket, World Cup Cricket No Comments

It’s a good question – because right now it looks like the Aussies are way ahead of the rest of the World in the 2007 www.CricketWorldCup.com! But can it last? Of course it can – Australia are at the peak of their form, and it really showed against Ireland. Their pace attack has strengthened and is now blowing everyone out of the water.

So, what’s it going to take to beat Australia? Many would say they can only beat themselves from here – but let’s face it – New Zealand and Sri Lanka still pose some threat to the team. It’s been shown in recent times that as soon as the Aussies are put under some pressure in situations they aren’t used to, they can crumble under the stress. It turns out that some of the batsmen don’t know what to do in pressure situations because they’ve been conditioned to come in when there is no pressure on.

Add that to the fact that the tail enders of the batting lineup have hardly faced a ball in the middle because the top of the order has been doing a great job. It could mean danger to the Aussies in the 2007 WorldCupCricket finals series.

Bet On World Cup Cricket – Half Way Through Super 8s

Cricket, World Cup Cricket No Comments

That’s right – we’re already just over half way through the Super Eight matchs in the 2007 www.WorldCupCricket.com and there is certainly one dominant force rising to the top – The Australians!

The Aussies have just completed an easy win over England, almost killing England’s chances of making it through to the finals stage of the competition. There is a tussle in the bottom half of the table between England, West Indies and Bangladesh who all only have 1 win a piece. They will be looking for sub-standard performances from South Africa, who could easily drop out of the Top 4 after their surprising loss to Bangladesh.

But, whatever way you look at it, Australia, Sri Lanka and New Zealand look set to make their way through to the final rounds. The last spot is still up for grabs in our opinion.

In matches coming up, you can bet on New Zealand at 1.05 against Ireland at 9.50 in the next www.CricketWorldCup.com match. New Zealand are one of the form teams in the comp, so don’t expect them to be troubled too much by Ireland.

Then tomorrow we see South Africa take on the West Indies. Both sides have been struggling – and a win by the West Indies would see the battle for the 4th final spot swing wide open. Expect a close match with West Indies the value at 2.90. South Africa are backable at 1.41.

In other matches, you can back England at 1.22 against Bangladesh at 4.25 – England are surely value in this match?

Finally, in what is set to be a great battle, New Zealand take on Sri Lanka in a few days time. Bookmakers cannot split these two Cricket World Cup sides and have them both at 1.90 to win the match.

West Indies Down – Sri Lanka Speeds On in WorldCupCricket.com

Cricket, World Cup Cricket No Comments

The www.Cricket World Cup.com is gaining momentum in the Caribbean – with less than a month of cricket’s greatest action to go. The Super Eights has had some exciting moments until now, and there are sure to be many more to come.

Sri Lanka comfortably beat the West Indies yesterday, by 113 runs. Sanath Jayasuriya hit an awesome century for Sri Lanka to help them on their way.

So coming up today we have New Zealand taking on Bangladesh. Expect an easy win by the Kiwis (they are our tip to win the tournament) after Bangladesh got spanked by 10 wickets against Australia the other day. You can bet on New Zealand at 1.04 or Bangladesh at 11.00.

In the outright tournament odds, we see the following. Also in this table is the current standings in the Super 8 portion of the www.WorldCupCricket.com tournament:

Team Mt Pts NRR Outright Betting Odds
Australia 3 6 +2.01 Bet on Australia at 2.20
Sri Lanka 3 4 +2.07 Bet on Sri Lanka at 4.50
New Zealand 2 4 +0.98 Bet on New Zealand at 4.50
England 2 2 -0.05 Bet on England at 13.00
South Africa 2 2 -0.71 Bet on South Africa at 4.25
West Indies 4 2 -1.18 Bet on West Indies at 51.00

New Zealand vs West Indies – Bet on New Zealand

Cricket No Comments

Well I thought this match was going to be one that would at least be an even game, but the West Indies failed to impress in their home land.

Bet on New Zealand Cricket World Cup

New Zealand where deadly in the field, largely to the top bowling effort of Shane Bond, yes Bond… Shane Bond who has been one of the stand out bowlers in this World Cup.

This World Cricket World Cup is showing a real mixed bag of results with India and Pakistan out it would not surprise me to see a teal like New Zealand or even Sri Lanka take out the tournament.

Of course both sides will need to get past Australia and South Africa if they are to have any chance but as New Zealand won their last three matches with Australia they can go into their games with some belief that they can win against their Tasman rivals.

Of course the other match you will want to keep a close eye on is Ireland vs England.

Who would have thought Ireland vs England. Not me for sure and I would guess most likely not even Ireland for that mater.

The CricketWorldCup continues and it’s getting to an exciting period of the tournmanet. We love the Super8 section because you can be sure of getting some excitement. And this is why this part is the longest period of the tournament. Unfortunately we lost a couple of great cricketing nations, Pakistan and India, but the teams left are also quality performers.

Looking at the matches coming up over the next few days, West Indies takes on New Zealand later today in what shapes as a must win match for both teams. Because of the rain delay in the West Indies last match, they didn’t even get a day of rest before this match. You can bet on the West Indies at 2.05 or Bet on New Zealand at 1.77. There has been a push for New Zealand in this game after the WI result to Australia.

Then we move onto England vs Ireland. What a surprise it would be in Ireland could bring together a victory – but don’t expect it. We’re sticking the house on England here at 1.08. If you want to look at betting on Ireland, they are 7.50. Hold on a second, England are the highly erratic team that are likely to lose 6 wickets for 20 runs. Cancel that bet! Anything can happen in this match!

The Super 8s round of the www.CricketWorldCup.com has almost been decided, with just one match remaining to decide the last eight.
