Bet on Olympics
August 12, 2008 11:00 am General SportShe doesn’t represent great value but a bet on Shanaze Reade at 2/5 to win the women’s BMX race at the Olympics will almost certainly give you a return.
The 19-year-old is unbeaten in BMX races for about 10 years and recently retained her World Championship in fine style. She quite simply is unbeatable in this discipline and barring any mishaps she will win gold.
If only all Olympic bets seemed that straight forward. The US men’s and women’s basketball teams are probably the next best ‘certain bets’ but there is a nagging doubt with the mens squad after only claiming bronze in Athens. That said they were impressive in beating China in the opening fixture, as were the women also beating the host nation convincingly.
If you’re looking for value the Great Britain’s men’s hockey team looked in good form on their opening match and at 9/1 could be worth a bit each-way. They are in a tough group but have the talent to go a long-way.
Sticking with bets GB related the British men’s eight in the rowing look good for a medal in Sunday’s final. They will have to beat a very strong Canadian side to win gold but at 4/1 are worth a bob or two. Also if you can find a bookie offering them to finish in the top three make sure you get on.
