Australian Masters Golf Odds - Head to Head Betting?
November 22, 2006 3:56 pm GolfThe Australian Masters Golf starts tomorrow at Huntingdale. Golf is always so tough to bet on because there are so many players in a tournament and so many things can happen throughout the four days.
The Masters is pretty much a carbon copy of the Australian Open that was contested last week, in terms of competing players. There are a few exceptions, including the addition of a couple of top ranking European players (including Paul Casey, currently at 11.00 to win).
The favourite is currently Stuart Appleby (10.00) followed by Casey, Robert Allenby (12.00), Peter Lonard (17.00), Nick O’Hern (19.00), last weeks winner John Senden (19.00) and Michael Campbell (21.00).
Our sneaky pick from last week, Nathan Green, is at 26.00 to win the Masters. Green led for over 3 full days of the Open last week, but inevidably came back to the field and fell away on the last day. Four days of tough golf took its toll, but watch out for Green in the future.
If you’re sick of waiting so long for your outright golf bet to come to fruition, you should take a look at Tournament Head to Head and Round betting.
In the tournament betting, normally there are 2 players of close to equal skill levels matched together by a bookmaker and you’ll need to pick which one will win the match up. Currently at www.iasbet.com.au, you’ll find match bets such as Baddeley v Lonard, Lyle v Rumford, Green v Rose and Allenby v Appleby. While you’re not getting the same good outright odds, the player you pick only has to beat the other player in the match up and you’ve won your bet.
Round by round betting works the same way, but the player you bet on has to beat his opponent for that round. Normally, these players are matched based on their playing partners for that round. In rounds 1 and 2, there are normally 3 players in each group, and you’ll need to pick the winner of that group for that round. When there are 3 players in a group for betting purposes, it’s called 3 ball betting. The player with the lowest round wins. For rounds 3 and 4 when there are only 2 players in each group, then it’s between those two players.
Head to head betting is a fun way to bet golf, especially the round by round options where you can watch a group of 3 or pair on the course and follow the action. Head to head bets in golf are certainly the best way to bet golf.
